THE BRIEF

What the client needed.

A gallery website has to feel like the gallery: curated, quiet and visual. It also has to be practical, showing what is on now, what is next and how to get in touch.

The gallery works with both emerging artists and international collectors, so the site needed to be credible to both.

WHAT WE BUILT

Key features of the website.

Each feature answers a question a visitor has when they arrive.

Current exhibition up front

The homepage opens with the current exhibition and a direct link to view the work.

Exhibitions and artists

Separate sections list past exhibitions and the artists exhibited.

Gallery philosophy

Short sections explain the gallery's perspective and how it curates.

Installation photography

Large images of artworks and installations carry the page.

Artist residency

A dedicated page presents the residency programme.

Mailing list

A sign-up invites collectors and visitors to hear about new shows and events.

DESIGN APPROACH

Letting the art lead.

The layout is minimal, with large images, generous spacing and restrained typography so nothing competes with the work.

Navigation is simple and exhibition-led, so visitors can always see what is on and explore further.

THE RESULT

What the website gives the client.

Resgallery now has a website that presents its programme with the polish expected of a contemporary gallery, with clear paths to exhibitions, artists and contact.

It shows the range of our work beyond South Africa, from corporate sites to cultural projects.
